Help For Myself

If you are reading this page because you think that you may have an addiction problem, you should be proud of yourself because this is the first and most crucial step in recovery. It takes an enormous amount of courage to admit to yourself and to someone else that you have a problem, the key is to be absolutely honest with yourself and surrender – I can’t do this alone. I need help.

Many addicts and alcoholics spend years in denial. They rationalise their addiction. They justify the use of drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism. They minimise how often and the amounts they use and they ignore the impact that their behaviour is having on themselves and those around them. Meanwhile, deep down, they know they have a problem, but try and fail to make efforts to cut down or stop, only to end up doing the same thing they have always done. Does this sound like you?

The problem for many alcoholics and drug addicts is not only admitting that you have a problem, but seeing that there is a way out. How do I stop? Can I really live a happy life, free from drugs, alcohol and other addictive behaviours? My family will never trust me again.

Seeing the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ is extremely difficult when you are suffering so badly, but we have been there ourselves. Rehab Healthcare team includes former drug and alcohol addicts who are now drug and alcohol-free and living healthy, happy and successful lives. You can do the same!.

We can help you to find the answers to all of your problems. We can help you to beat your addiction. All it takes is one phone call and we will guide you down the path of a new life.

Do I really have a problem?

You may be visiting this page, unsure whether you have an addiction or whether your drink or drug us is ‘that bad’. Below are some questions that may help you to understand the severity of the problem you may have:

  • How important has your drug/alcohol use/addictive behaviour become to your way of life?
  • Have you stopped doing ‘other’ things because of your drug and alcohol use?
  • Have you found yourself engaging in the addictive process or taking drugs and alcohol more often?
  • Have you found yourself requiring more drugs and/ or alcohol to get the same effect (i.e. your tolerance has increased)?
  • Does taking alcohol or drugs, or engaging in a process addiction make you feel better? Do you feel worse when you are not taking drugs or alcohol?
  • Has your drink or drug use had an impact on other areas of your life – such as relationships, work, your ability to sleep or your social functioning?
  • Do you use drink or drugs to suppress my emotions?
  • Are you preoccupied with the thought of drinking or using drugs? i.e. you are always thinking about when you are next able to use or drink or engage in process addiction.
  • Have you found yourself taking more drugs or alcohol than I initially planned?
  • Have you tried to reduce the amount you use, or use less often and failed to do so?
  • Has a friend or family member told you that they are concerned about your drink or drug use?
  • If you have answered yes to any of the above questions, it may be a good time for you to seek help.

Addiction is a behaviour that controls you. It’s not the alcohol or drugs, it’s actually you—your impulses, your pleasures, your anxieties, your fears, your preferences—taking over your better judgment or reasoned decisions.
